Attempted Photographic Adventure to Buntzen Lake

The one thing about photography that I tell new photographers is that to improve, you have to shoot constantly and explore new places/subjects. With that philosophy in mind, I ventured out to Buntzen Lake yesterday with fellow photographer, Josie Baik (http://baiktobasics.com) to capture some images we were inspired by online.

The other thing I usually forget to tell photographers (which I was reminded by when we got to the lake yesterday) is that while you may explore and shoot new and interesting places constantly, remember that you cannot control mother nature! LOL you'd expect that to be common sense I know..  But the truth is no matter how well prepared you may be for a shoot, mother nature is full of surprises and you might not be able to capture the shot you initially had in mind.

It was pouring pretty heavily at Bunsen lake and so we made do with the situation and took a couple of shots before calling our adventure off because it wasn't very suitable to hike around the lake in that condition plus out gear would have gotten drenched.

Oh well, I'm sticking to my advice and saying to you: "Go out, explore, and shoot constantly to improve your photography! (even if that means you won't get the perfect shot the first time you go)".

With that, I leave you with some of the pictures I shot yesterday keeping in mind that these are definitely not my finest works. I will be back Bunsen Lake, I will be back!

Get out there & keep shooting!

Exploring the Winter Wonderland; Brandywine Falls Provincial Park

This post is a little overdue but here it is...

Sticking to my New Year's Resolution, I ventured into North Vancouver to a place known as Brandywine Falls with my new friend Joise Baik. A picture speaks a thousand words and since I took more than one this might as well be a short novel (please appreciate my sense of humour) so I'll let the images do most of the talking. Hope you enjoy walking through my adventure time!

The pathway to the beginning of our adventure. We had to stay on the right path because the snow was knee deep.

The pathway to the beginning of our adventure. We had to stay on the right path because the snow was knee deep.
It was a great day of photographic adventure time as we attempted to get to the foot of the waterfall.

We hiked all over trying to find the "secret path" thats not on the map to the base of the waterfall. after a good hour of hiking in the snow we came to the conclusion that we were not getting anywhere near where we wanted to be and only later on we realised we were actually hiking towards Whistler.

Unfortunately there was too much snow and we couldn't find the "secret path" to the bottom. Either way the conditions would have made it too dangerous for us to get down and even harder to get back up. Oh well, I guess I'll have to go back some other time.

Thats our picture after realising we were actually on our way to Whistler. Anyways, Josie is an amazing photographer and great company. Check out her shots on Instagram at baiktobasics and her site: http://baiktobasics.com
